Causes of the disease
The cause of sweat rashes is a disrupted and irritated skin barrier. Moisture and heat, lack of hygiene and occasionally mechanical friction play a major role. Bacteria causing intertrigo and fungus thrive in such an environment. One exception is a disease of the sweat glands called miliaria, or heat rash. Symptoms of sweat rashes can be interchangeable: red, burning or itchy skin, blisters merging into large patches. If in doubt about the cause of the irritation, it is a good idea to see a GP or skin doctor.

When and How to Use Dermaguard
Dermaguard cream is used as effective prevention against intertrigo and sweat rashes. It can be used at the first sign of irritation.
However, if the skin is in an acute condition, i.e. severely irritated with wet skin, do not use the cream.
Apply Dermaguard cream for the first time when the skin is soothed, without any wet patches. The skin treated with Dermaguard cream then has time to regenerate. Dermaguard helps to prevent the skin from becoming irritated again to the point of an acute condition.
